It might be the colors of a long-ago memory, a fleeting moment of the present, or a combination of colors and shapes that recall a favorite place or landscape. I'm constantly inspired by prose and poetry, nature, music, and my love of color. I'm inspired by the Expressionists and the Fauves, who painted expressively and subjectively, rather than realistically. In most abstract pieces, I usually don't have a plan before I begin; I may begin a painting with a particular color palette in mind, but rarely more than that, so the painting can evolve organically, in its own time, and sometimes the process is almost chaotic in nature.
