The Role

Responsible for evaluating, planning, and estimating optimal metro fiber network capacity utilization and design requirements. Ensures efficient and timely deployment of metro fiber, meeting customer demand through analyzing current network designs, route consumption trends, new technologies and future opportunities for augmentation. Assimilates various internal and external customer requirements, creates new metro fiber network capacity solutions, assembles the required fiber augment costs and budgets and participates in the overall fiber augment approval and trigger process. Undertakes specific network simplification and network enablement projects.

The Main Responsibilities

Applies understanding of current metro fiber network configuration and technology to ensure capacity and efficiency of the planned designs. May participate in definition of new network configurations, technologies, and best planning practices. May provide direction for the development of tools to monitor, manage, and report on the network.
Documents technical methodology for installation of metro fiber of moderate complexity, including written directions, graphical fiber layouts, and fiber topology.
Develop fiber construction costs estimates using existing network mapping programs.
Issues fiber construction projects based on estimates.
Prepares status/progress reports and updates management on projects. Participates in development of reports. May present new reports and summaries of network data to Management, Product Teams, and Network Planning.
Participates in the development of plans to augment, optimize, and reconfigure the fiber network as growth dictates. May participate in cross functional teams to change or modify estimates as need arises.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience
  • 2
    years of related experience

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in related field
