### Summary
This position is a Nonappropriated Fund Recreation Assistant, NF-0189-02 position with DLA Installation Operations Richmond Community Pool.
This position is being used to recruit candidates who want to be Recreation Assistant (Lifeguards), but do not hold a current lifeguard certification. Candidates who hold a current and active nationally recognized lifeguard certification should apply under announcement 18DLANAFLB10106235. Candidates selected for this position will be trained and certified as lifeguards through American Red Cross or other similar nationally recognized program at DLA Nonappropriated Funds expense. If training is not completed or certification is not obtained, you will be separated from employment from DLA Nonappropriated Funds with seven day notice.
This JOA is the public notice for a job fair being held in Richmond, Virginia on 8 February 2018. This first cut-off date is 8 February 2018. Applicants who are unable to attend the job fair or who apply after the 8 February 2018 will be referred to the selecting official according to the date the application packet has been received. The job fair is being held at the Chester Library 11800 Center Street, Chester, VA.
This position is a Flexible (Flex) position. You may be regularly scheduled or scheduled on an as needed basis, but there are no guaranteed hours. Flex employees are not entitled to leave or benefits.
This is an Open Continuous/Standing Register job opportunity announcement. This announcement will be used to fill vacancies as they become available. These are "seasonal" positions. Selectees will be inprocessed upon selection; however, will not receive a schedule until they complete training. This position is a bargaining unit position.
The hiring manager may make selections from this referral certificate for up to 60 days after the closing date if additional vacancies become available.

Assisting in preparing the pool to open for the season.

Position-specific Conditions of Employment
1. Successful completion of national recognized lifeguard training and certification. Failure to complete training or obtain certification will result in separation from position with seven days notice.
2. The ability to swim and pass a pre-course swim test consisting of:
300 yard continuous swim (100 yards front crawl, 100 yards breast stroke, 100 yards either front crawl or breast stroke). No time limit.
Brick Dive: 20 yard swim, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet, retrieve a 10 lb. brick, return to the surface, swim the 20 yards back to the starting point keeping the brick and head above the water, and exit the pool. Timed: 1 minutes, 20 seconds.
Tread Water: Keeping head above the surface by treading water. Cannot use hands or arms. Timed: 2 minutes
General Conditions of Employment
1. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of application submission date.
