Our Client is seeking a Principal Engineer- High Speed Machine Design for their Richmond, VA manufacturing facility. THIS IS A SENIOR ROLE! In this position you will introduce creative ideas, solutions and/or new technology into the manufacturing process. You will determine the functional requirements for either new equipment and/or identify upgrade requirements for existing equipment. This would include implementation of new equipment and upgrades to help meet those requirements. Working with cross-functional teams to identify problems within the existing manufacturing processes and develop respective solutions is important to this role. You will work closely with R&D in the development and implementation of new product designs.

Accountabilities of the Principal Engineer- High Speed Machine Design

Provide creative solutions.
Develop concepts which would be proven-out and designed to insure required equipment parameters are met.
Work closely with R&D in the development of new products.
Develop specifications for equipment/line modifications and/or additions.
Develop project resource requirements - time, $, manpower
Prepare and submit requests for project funding.
Prepare and submit RFP's and purchase requisitions for projects.
Coordinate and lead efforts with respective departments to ensure a streamlined and successful project flow.
Develop engineering designs for equipment/layouts. Document using CAD (SolidWorks).
Schedule and facilitate design and project status meetings with contractors, consultants, plant personnel and management. Prepare and develop associated reports as necessary.
Train/guide production personnel on the operation and maintenance of equipment/modifications.
Qualify new installations/modifications for production use.
Work with the Validation Department in developing test plans for new and existing equipment.
Assist departments with equipment budget preparation.
Assist operations with equipment troubleshooting as needed.

Specific Accountabilities of a Principal Engineer- High Speed Machine Design

Team is responsible for the design and development of the new equipment.
Engineering group consists of four (4) engineers with outside resources being brought in as needed.

Principal Engineer- High Speed Machine Design Candidate requirements:
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
Strong creative machine design skills
At least 10 years of high speed machine design and project management experience is a MUST

Preferred Skills and Experience
Working knowledge of mechanical components used in high-speed manufacturing
Working knowledge of machine controls used in manufacturing operations
Good communication skills - must be able to develop specifications, proposals, RFP's and presentations.
SolidWorks CAD proficientEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
