We have a great opportunity for someone to head our farm and equine insurance business.
This managing director will be responsible for the P&L of a growing and profitable $60M portfolio of farm and agriculture products that focus on horses.
This leadership role offers the chance to create the strategy and vision of the products, driving positive change and encouraging teamwork across the organization.
They will manage a team of more than 45 associates who handle underwriting, marketing, sales and operational functions.
This position reports to the Markel Personal Lines Executive Underwriting Officer and will be a member of the personal lines senior leadership team.
What you'll be doing:
Ownership of P&L for horse mortality and related farm P&C productsResponsible for overall performance of the products relative to established growth, profit and combined ratio targetsDevelop and execute business strategy across the farm/equine product portfolioCollaborate with key stakeholders to determine technology strategy and prioritization for the product suiteLeads the development of products including rates, forms, and features/benefits through collaboration with your underwriting leaders, personal lines product management and pricing resourcesIdentifies new product opportunities and collaborates effectively from development through to implementationCollaborate with claims, actuarial and your underwriting teams for results analysisDetermine the direction of sales/distribution for the products including channel strategyCreates, manages, and measures the effectiveness of marketing budgetStrengthens an already strong consumer brand within the equine marketProvide executive leadership for the farm/equine underwriting, marketing, and operations teamsPromote enterprise culture, attract top talent and develop team membersReports to senior management on key indicators, metrics and drivers that impact the achievement of business goalsActs as a knowledge expert within the company on industry trends related to the product suiteWhat we're looking for:
Bachelor s DegreeRequires 15
years of insurance underwriting, product and/or leadership experienceStrong relationship building and collaboration skillsExcellent strategic skills with proven ability to think long term and lead change where requiredStrong analytical skills and excellent problem solving/decision making abilitiesExperience working with and influencing key stakeholders and leadersDemonstrated ability to motivate, coach, and mentor a diverse team of professionals to achieve high performance and deliver quality results.
