The selected canidate will operate a seven passenger van and related equipment to provide safe and orderly transportation of students and other authorized persons on assigned route to and from designated locations including but not limited to school and after school activities.
This position is a driving position, most time will be spent on the road traveling 80
miles.
Qualifications:
Valid drivers license Must be at least 18 years of age Must submit to prescribed DOT drug testing program Able to follow written and verbal instructions Able to use maps and other systems to follow routes and locate addresses Able to manage student behavior Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with passenger Ability to lift heavy objects and assist passengers with mobility needs if necessary Strong attention to detail and ability to follow designated routes and schedules MUST HAVE GREAT TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS MUST BE RELIABLE
Responsibilities:
Operate the vehicle in a safe, efficient manner while following the assigned route, exactly as written and adhering to established schedules Anticipate problems such as traffic, weather, road conditions, and schedule changes and make necessary adjustments to ensure student safety and reduce delays Perform pre- and post-trip inspections according to specifications to ensure van can be operated safely and notify supervisor of needed repairs Keep assigned van clean and maintain appropriate level of fuel Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical problems and complete required corresponding reports Communicate with the schools, students and community in a positive manner as to encourage their cooperation and respect Instruct students on safe entering, exiting, and passenger rules and regulations Supervise students while they board and leave the bus and cross the street Perform emergency evacuation of students on van when the situations warrants Maintain discipline and use effective behavior management control over groups of students Report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator and communicate with office staff and parents regarding student's behavior when warranted Help students with disabilities get on and off bus according to their individual needs Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses and vehicles Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crowbar, and reflector Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor If you are a reliable individual with a passion for driving and providing exceptional customer service, we encourage you to apply today.
