Summary POSITION TITLE:
Registered Nurse - Assistant Nurse Manager (Interventional Procedure Clinics) PLEASE NOTE:
THIS POSITION IS NOT SUPERVISORY Responsibilities The Interventional Procedure Clinics Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) will provide assistance with leadership and direction to nursing staff.
The position will perform delegated duties, such as develop time schedules; responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, employee safety, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
-Assist Nurse Manager in managing patient care operation at the unit level.
He or she has broad knowledge and skills who acts as a clinical leader in the daily functioning of the Minor Procedure, Urology, Pain, and Dermatology Clinics.
-Functions in a clinical role which may include, but is not limited to, charge nurse and/or staff relief for meetings, sick call, etc.
, as needed (Expected to work 60% administrative time and 40% clinical time, or can be adjusted at the manager's discretion, to meet the unit's needs).
-Responsible for identifying patient flow issues and working with nursing unit staff and physicians to minimize patient delays in admission or access to appropriate care.
-Assist with the staffing process by ensuring all staff assignments reflect individual unit priorities and capabilities of clinical staff.
Ensures compliance with VHA staffing guidelines for the area.
Works on the unit Staffing Methodology process.
-Perform delegated duties such as staffing schedule, timecards and leave approval, work order entry in Vista, JPSR review, equipment scanning, patient care data review, etc.
-Assists Nurse Manager in compiling and submitting of required reports in a timely manner including:
performance improvement reports, certified time and other workload and patient care data requested.
-Assists Nurse Manager in promoting and supporting staff to pursue leadership, professional, and educational activities.
Plans for staff to attend committee/council meetings and educational opportunities.
-Assists Nurse Manager in planning and conducting regularly scheduled unit staff meetings; encourages open communication and verbalization of options when identifying and resolving problems in the unit.
-Collaborates with Unit-Based Educators to organize unit -based orientation, training, and development of staff.
-Provides input for the evaluation of staff performance to include providing input to the Nurse Manager on performance appraisals, proficiencies, competencies and compliance with policy and procedure.
-Demonstrates safe working practices that include adherence to standards and regulations related to clinical practice, through audits, data collection, interpretation, and reporting of findings with appropriate recommendations.
-Identifies quality improvement projects for the unit and demonstrates improvement in patient outcomes or resource utilization for Nursing Operations.
-Responsible for direct coordination of supplies and equipment for the unit.
-Utilizes every opportunity to learn Unit Manager duties for potential succession planning.
-Performing other duties as assigned.

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing.
Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript.

Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required.
Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience.

BLS/ACLS Requirements:
Current certification in Basis Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required for all staff providing direct patient care and working in PCU.

-2 years Reusable Medical Instruments and Devices (sterile instruments, flexible endoscopes, ultrasound probes, etc.
) and High Level Disinfection (HLD), highly preferred.
-3-5 years of Moderate Sedation administration and recovery experience, highly preferred.
-2-3 years Ambulatory/Outpatient Care experience, highly preferred.
