Job Description:
oWhat are the top (at least 3 if possible) must have skill sets (technical/functional) which are required?- Fiber Splicer background-GIS mapping-Experience Writing statement of work / sowUnder general supervision, performs simple to moderately complex planning and evaluation of fiber optic networks.
Assists in network planning and development of standards and applications.
Recommends resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels.
Evaluates new products as assigned.
Works with individual business units on specific project assignments.
Errors may cause minor delay, expense, and disruption.
Responsibilities:
This position provides engineering support for Dominion's internal telecommunications long haul single mode fiber infrastructure.
Tasks will include writing statements of work (SOW), completing calculations, analysis, research, design, installation instructions, documentation, procurement, and installation oversight (as needed).
Work will be completed with the oversight of the group lead or other assigned group members.
Qualifications:
Candidate must have:
1) Working knowledge of Outside Plant fiber cable installation practices, both UG and ADSS.
2) Working knowledge of GIS mapping.
3) Working knowledge of telecommunications concepts associated with the design and installation of single mode fiber systems.
4) Working knowledge of typical standards and practices used within telecommunications buildings and rooms.
5) Effective oral and written communication skills.
6) Effective computer skills including AutoCad LT and Microsoft Office ProductsVisio, Power Point, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Knowledge of or proficiency with Circuit Vision Fiber (CVFiber) is a plus.
7) Ability to manage several small projects simultaneously.
