General Public - GJob DutiesThe Science Museum of Virginia seeks an energetic grounds maintenance technician to provide general grounds maintenance and upkeep across the Science Museum campus to maintain a clean and safe environment for our guests and staff.
This position will be responsible for cleaning, sweeping, washing and maintaining sidewalks, curbs and walkways, mowing the lawn, when necessary, removal of exterior trash daily, cleaning and maintaining the grounds maintenance shop, and keeping the lawn equipment in working order, and assisting Facilities Maintenance as needed.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
This position works an alternating weekend schedule.
This is a part-time position limited to 1500 hours per year, or 29 hours a week on average.
No state benefits are provided.
Museum membership is included.
Minimum QualificationsThis position requires the ability to perform multiple tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
Knowledge and use of basic lawn tools and equipment, the ability to follow instructions related to breakdown and reassembly of lawn equipment; the ability to lift heavy items; knowledge of grounds maintenance as well as basic skills in techniques, tools and equipment use.
Valid driver's license required.
