The Enterprise Architect is a member of the IT team at Natural Retreats and serves as the champion and steward of custom development platforms and delivery processes at Natural Retreats.
This position will manage all Oracle APEX development while defining and enforcing coding and development standards for the platform.
The Enterprise Architect is responsible for oversight of the data model designs, integration patterns, and knowledge management pertaining to Natural Retreats' technology ecosystem.
This is a full-time, permanent position.
While the Enterprise Architect will primarily work from our Charlottesville, VA office, there will also be the option of hybrid working arrangements.

Define and enforce development standards and best practices for software delivery with regards to the organization's implementation of Oracle APEX Manage the Oracle APEX (NRES) platform knowledgebase at Natural Retreats and serve as the primary point of contact for technical questions related to the platform Manage the backlog of platform-specific technical debt and prioritize cleanup efforts as part of delivery teamwork Provide onboarding, guidance, and ongoing oversight to consultant developer teams that may work within Natural Retreats' technology ecosystem Actively monitor the product roadmap for Oracle APEX and communicate and respond to opportunities and threats related to the evolution of the platform Educate business stakeholders about the Oracle APEX (NRES) platform and help to design the solutions required to meet business stakeholder needs Develop and maintain systems architecture and roadmap documentation to capture both current and future state Coordinate any proof-of-concept work required regarding the adoption of new capabilities related to the Oracle APEX (NRES) platform Define the requirements for ensuring that pre-production Oracle APEX environments are adequately maintained to meet the data needs of developers and testers and ensure parity with the production environment Establish team goals and metrics for measuring delivery quality on custom development platforms Manage vendor and other third-party relationships pertinent to the Oracle APEX (NRES) platform Evaluate and manage toolsets that will be leveraged to support custom development and delivery platforms Provide system troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains - will be expected to participate in on-call escalations to troubleshoot customer facing issues in production environments EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum 10 years relevant experience in software architecture and development.
Significant experience with leading people toward departmental and technical objectives Experience with deployment to and management of cloud-hosted environments.
Extensive experience in the following disciplines - Application Architecture, Information Modeling, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Object Oriented Programming, Quality Assurance, and Branch Management Demonstrated experience with the adoption of new technologies.
Hands on experience with cloud computing, data design, database management, and modeling.
Solid working experience with Software Development Life Cycle, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery Proficient with Agile methodologies and working closely with small teams and vendors Strong ability to troubleshoot complex issues ranging from system resources to application stack traces Experience with version control systems such as Git Excellent interpersonal skills including a professional and diplomatic demeanor Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and presentation Ability to create new and unique ideas and an entrepreneurial spirit a plus Proficient using standard office software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook Experience in project management, with skills necessary to interpret what is needed for the success of a project and to create appropriate schedules for timely delivery Very high level of organizational and time management skills Flexibility in competently juggling competing priorities and changing expectations Must demonstrate outstanding judgment and mature business skills with the ability to establish a strong rapport with senior management Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the Team Member for this job.
