The VCU Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR) and Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies (IDAS) advances multidisciplinary research and training on the neuroscience of addictions and related neurobehavioral disorders.
The CCTR & IDAS invites candidates to apply for an exciting opportunity as the Business Administrator.
This position provides specialized financial support to the Administrative Director and faculty investigators of the CCTR and IDAS in the compliant administration of research and sponsored projects.
As assigned, incumbent will work directly with investigators, and other staff to provide support for proposal submissions, financial administration of awards and other departmental funds, and sponsor reporting.
This position will conduct routine monitoring of fiscal and administrative processes to ensure funds are managed in accordance with established guidelines of both Virginia Commonwealth University and sponsoring agencies.
Incumbent will monitor the spending on sponsored programs index accounts, effort reporting, index account deficits, and timeliness of sponsored project closeouts, along with management of the departmental business office personnel who provide direct support to faculty investigators conducting clinical research involving human subjects.
Most work is on-site with some days dedicated to remote work Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business management, or related field or several years' experience in sponsored research administration at a university or comparable setting or equivalent relevant training, education, and experience.
Minimum of three years of experience in research administration from proposal development to project closeout, including working knowledge of GAAP and Uniform Guidance.
Experience using electronic research administration platforms such as eRA Commons, and Grants.
gov Experience in budget development, expense forecasting, financial reconciliation, and ability to interpret and apply complex government regulations and contractual terms.
Effective communicator with the demonstrated ability to explain complicated issues clearly, succinctly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated analytical skills; ability to analyze financial transactions for trends and variances; ability to create reports, tracking tools, and professional documents.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, with demonstrated experience using spreadsheets or databases to organize data appropriately for financial analysis and reporting.
Strong problem solving and time management skills including ability to adapt to frequent changes in work assignments, prioritize, and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
Must be precise, thorough, and reliable and perform daily activities with minimal supervision.
Excellent customer service skills and ability to effectively lead and work as part of a team.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Qualifications:
Experience in research administration in an academic/medical setting, including financially managing clinical research/trials Understanding of Institutional Review Board (IRB) and regulatory agency requirements pertaining to human subjects research Working knowledge of state or university purchasing, travel, and personnel administration policies and procedures Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential Salary Range:

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
