The Position:
The DOT Compliance Manager will spearhead the development, implementation, and enhancement of Groome' transportation and safety compliance program.
The DOT Compliance Manager will be tasked primarily with auditing location operations to ensure Groome maintains its vehicle fleet and operations in compliance with Federal and State regulations and consistent with Groome policies.
This Manager will work closely with location and regional management teams, and will report directly to Groome's Director of Compliance and Safety.
Essential Functions:
Audit electronic driver qualification files (Tenstreet experience is a plus) to ensure maintenance of commercial driver's licenses, physical cards, annual motor vehicle records, endorsements and relevant training Audit driver DOT logs and timecards for compliance with DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations for both ELD locations and Short Haul Exemption locations Audit electronic vehicle inspection files Manage compliance with substance abuse and alcohol regulations Ensure Groome's CSA scores and associated BASIC information are reconciled, accurate and communicated to respective management Identify trends and training gaps, as needed Conduct random CMV inspections Stay current with Federal and State DOT regulations Work with operations and safety teams to supports a proactive approach to DOT compliance focused on to supports accountability, incident prevention and training.
Monitor compliance of fleet operations and personnel Review roadside inspections and respond with corrective action training, as necessary Support location operations with day-to-day DOT related issues and safety systems and programs.
Assist with training of new managers on DOT compliance and best practices Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience in the transportation industry in a safety compliance role, specifically DOT carrier compliance experience General DOT HOS knowledge OSHA standards and reporting (OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred) NATMI CSS, CDS, or DOT Certification Reasonable suspicion training certification AOBRD or ELD experience Ability to travel to different terminals in the US that may require overnight stays Vast knowledge of FMSCA regulations and the 7 basic categories within the CSA scoring system Competencies Strong communication skills Professional and ethical Time management and the ability to prioritize Shows initiative Excellent organizational skills Ability to stay calm and solve problems under pressure Strong MS Office skills Ability to maintain confidential information The job description of DOT Compliance Manager is not inclusive and is subject to changes, additions, and deletions.
