The Development Officer is a member of the development team.
This position works with the President, Development Counsel, and the Board of Directors to cultivate individual giving through fundraising, marketing, and communications.
The officer coordinates mission-focused development efforts that support general organizational operating and special projects.
The officer builds community support and raises awareness for Family Lifeline's work and mission through marketing, communications, and social media.
This position operates within Family Lifeline's mission, vision, and values, which are incorporated in all aspects of job performance, and according to Family Lifeline's policies and procedures and culturally informed best practice standards.
Major Duties 1.
Fundraising & Development:
a.
Maintain relationships with current corporate, foundational, and individual stakeholders.
b.
Organize special events, including annual fundraisers, donor stewardship events, and community engagement opportunities.
c.
Implement seasonal fundraising appeals, campaigns, and reports.
d.
Act as liaison between the Board of Directors and the organization.
Collaborate with the Development Committee to set development goals and broaden fundraising efforts.
e.
Maintain online donation platforms and Raiser's Edge CRM database to track donors and donations.
f.
Oversee all aspects of Family Lifeline Young Professionals Board, including member acquisition, engagement, and retention.
g.
Assist with grant writing and reporting as needed.

Marketing, Communications, & Social Media:
a.
Create mission-focused social media content that promotes online engagement across all social media channels.
b.
Write monthly e-newsletters with organizational and community updates.
c.
Design outreach materials such as flyers, brochures, and branded merchandise.
d.
Maintain Wix website.
e.
Ensure consistent voice and brand across all communication channels.

Volunteer Engagement:
a.
Implement community and corporate volunteer initiatives, activities, and supply drives.

5% MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/
Experience:
a.
Four-year degree and at least two years of relevant work experience.

Understanding of social determinants of health; willingness to learn about Family Lifeline's work and mission.

Outstanding organizational, verbal, and writing skills.
c.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Canva, with the ability to learn common Family Lifeline software applications.
d.
Experienced in Raiser's Edge or related fundraising software.
Other:
a.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including some evening and weekend hours.
b.
Possesses a valid Virginia driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.
c.
Able to pass a required background check.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
