VCU Health System is recruiting for
Medical Technologist 2 (Days)
in the Microbiology/Immunology Lab
The chief objective of this position and age group(s) to be served (if applicable):
The Medical Technologist II (MT II) provides accurate and timely testing and results to requesting physicians and other health care professionals for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. The MT II should consistently utilize excellent customer service skills to both internal and external customers at all times. A positive and professional interpersonal style with a strong commitment to the team effort is mandatory.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire
Certified as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)or equivalent, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) or equivalent ASCP categorical certification.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment including CPR, etc.
Certified MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) or CLS (NCA) or equivalent, or ASCP categorical certification
Level and type of experience REQUIRED
Minimum of one (1) year of clinical work experience as a Medical Technologist
Education/training REQUIRED
Bachelor s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (BSCLS) from an accredited program
Education/training PREFERRED
Master s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (MSCLS) from an accredited program
Describe independent action(s) required
Notification of panic values to ordering physicians.
Customer service oriented communications.
Must complete the required number of continuing education hours per year. MT II must complete 10 hours per year.
Participate in teaching new employees, students, residents, etc. in areas that competency is demonstrated.
Additional position requirements such as shift rotations, weekends, environment, etc
Rotating weekends as required.
Holiday scheduling as required.
On call availability as required and for emergency coverage on any shift.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
